Gevvie Stone and Kristi Wagner advance to final, other BRF doubles fall just short.

On a very intense day of racing, Gevvie Stone and Kristi Wagner(ARION) advanced to the final of the USRowing Olympic Trials for the women’s double by winning their semifinal. Racing in semifinal number two, Gevvie and Kristie finished ahead of 2016 Olympians Meghan O’Leary and Ellen Tomek, with teammates Alie Rusher and Mary Jones Nabel finishing 3rd, just 1.26 seconds short of qualifying for the final.

Racing in semifinal 1, Cicely Madden and Maggie Fellows were even closer to qualifying for the final, finishing just 0.35 seconds out of a qualifying spot, and 0.58 seconds away from first place. The racing at this years doubles trials has been the closest in quite sometime, and it really exciting to see just how deep the US women’s sculling field has become.
