Hallie Smith finishes 10th in Tokyo

After finishing 6th in her heat, and 4th in her repechage, Hallie Smith finished 4th (10th overall) in the B final of the PR1 Women’s Single Sculls. Hallie’s result was the end of a campaign that was hugely impacted by COVID-19, keeping her off the water for nearly all of 2020. Hallie was able to overcome those difficulties to make it to the starting line in Tokyo, and her performance improved throughout the regatta. Her tenth place matched performances of the PR1 Men’s Single Sculls and PR2 Mixed Double, while the Boston (Community Rowing Incorporated) based PR3 Coxed Four won a second consecutive silver medal for the United States. Hallie was coached by Jenny Sichel was a former BRF athlete who competed as a coxswain in the PR3 Coxed Four in Rio, winning a silver medal.
